California Cheddar Cheese and Green Onion Scones



– 2 ¾ cups all purpose flour, plus more for kneading – 2 ½ tsp baking powder – ½ tsp baking soda – ½ tsp kosher salt – ¾ cup cold Real California butter, cut into cubes – ¾ cup Real California whole milk – 1 large egg – 1 cup sharp Real California Cheddar cheese, grated – 1/2 cup thinly sliced green onions, both white and green parts – Softened Real California butter, for serving Egg wash: – 1 large egg and 1 Tbsp milk combined

1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Line sheet tray with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the diced butter and cut in using a fork or pastry cutter until very crumbly. Combine the milk, egg, and green onions together in a separate small bowl and whisk to combine. Add to the butter and flour mixture and mix together quickly. Then fold in cheese until just combined.

3. Dust your work surface with flour and pat the dough into a 8 inch circle. Then slice into 6 wedges. Place on the parchment lined sheet tray and brush with egg wash.

4. Bake for 22-25 minutes until golden brown.
