New Program Demonstrates Best Animal Care Practices

California dairy farmers care deeply about the health and welfare of their cows and the conditions under which they are raised. The highest standards of animal care are not only the right thing to do, but they also allow for the production of quality milk.

The National Milk Producers Federation is launching a national program this fall which will allow farmers to show consumers how they take care of their cows.

As part of the National Dairy Farmers Assuring Responsible Management (FARM) program, dairy farmers will continue to implement even more advanced practices in health, housing, nutrition, milking and transportation of their cows. While California dairy farmers already adhere to some of the highest animal welfare standards in the U.S., this program will allow for even further improvement in animal care practices and provide a process of third-party verification that those practices are carried out.

California dairy producers have a strong tradition of providing excellent care for their dairy cows and this program will allow them to show their commitment to consumers. For more information on the National Dairy FARM program, visit http://www.nationaldairyfarm.com
