Colin Danbom

Fifth generation dairyman, Paul Danbom has devoted his life to the family dairy farm he runs with his great uncle, Jim Brindeiro, in Turlock, CA. The Brindeiro and Danbom Dairy Farm raises 1,600 Holstein cows, with 900 used specifically for milking, on the border of Turlock and Hilmar.

As a California dairy farmer, Danbom believes caring for his cows and implementing sustainable practices on the dairy are key to the farm‘s future. To keep his cows comfortable, Danbom has built large cooling barns for the cows to relax and cool off in during the heat of summer.

As for sustainability, Paul Danbom points to two very good reasons he keeps this a top priority – son Collin, 2 years old, and daughter Kylie, 1 year old. “We have to preserve the land for our kids and grandchildren,” says Danbom. Inspired by his own strong memories of waking up before the sun rose and working with his grandfather and great uncle every day, Danbom understands the importance of sustaining the land and animals so that he can pass along his family’s traditions to his son (and future 6th generation dairy farmer) one day. “I get to take my son Collin to work with me every day,” says Danbom, “I couldn’t ask for a better job.”

Danbom has shared not only his love of dairy farming with his two children, but also his love of dairy foods. The family of four drinks a gallon of milk a day and, of course, their favorite dairy treat as a family is milkshakes!
