Outdoor sports mean tailgates. Whether it’s simple snacks or an elaborate spread, tailgate parties offer the perfect meet-up and fuel-up spot. And, for many, the tailgating experience can be equally as important as the big game itself. Here are a few rules and recipe ideas for a winning experience.
- Offer bite-sized, easy-to-eat foods that are higher in protein to keep game-goers fueled throughout the day. Did you know Real California cheese makes a perfect partner for everyone’s favorite beers, lagers and ales? Serve up these classic companions with pieces of torn artisan bread and crackers:
- Cheddar & Pale Ale
- Provolone & Pilsner
- Cream Cheese or Feta & Wheat Beer

- If the game is mid-day, kick off a morning tailgate party with pre-made smoothies, and offer ‘gaters a Make It Yourself Yogurt Bar, featuring fresh fruit, granola and nuts.
- Show your team or school spirit with hats, shirts, flags and more. Also, have some temporary tattoos on hand for the kiddos.
- Spills and messes happen. Don’t forget the Growl towels, errr… paper towels, napkins, etc. Sanitizing hand wipes can also be handy, especially when you’re tailgating in the middle of a gigantic parking lot.
