Milk

Everyone knows that milk is goodness in a glass and adds rich flavor to many of our favorite dishes but did you know there’s more to milk than meets the glass? Yes, that dependable, wholesome milk has a secret life. You’ll never think twice about adding milk to the guest list after reading these fun, easy party tricks.

Soft Skin. Before your guests arrive or you head out to a holiday gathering, hop into the bath tub and add 1 cup of milk to a tub of warm water. The lactic acid in milk softens your skin working as an exfoliator and the natural fat acts as a moisturizer. This one-two punch is cheaper than that designer moisturizer you’ve been dying to purchase. Cleopatra was rumored to have given all of her beautiful skin credit to the milk she added to her bath. (We can only imagine what would have happened if she used Real California Milk.)

Shiny Shoes. Don’t fret when you get all dressed up and realize your shoes look dull. Try using milk as a shoe shine. Moisten a cloth with milk and buff dull patent leather into a pair of shoes that will have all your friends talking. You can also use this method for purses and, if you’re really ambitious, leather couches.

Scorch Savior. Have you ever been in the kitchen rushing to prepare appetizers before guests come and accidentally burned yourself? We’ve all been there, but luckily you can head over to the fridge and cover minor burns with a cloth soaked in whole milk. According to Stephen M. Purcell, D.O., chairman of Dermatology at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, “milk is an excellent compress for minor burns.” Whole milk is effective because the fat content soothes burns and promotes healing, instead of the stinging shock of cold water.

Spotless Spills. Now that everyone has finally arrived, it is time to enjoy your first sip of red wine – oops, now it is sitting pretty on your shirt! Instead of running to grab a bleach pen, calmly make your way to the kitchen and grab a glass of milk (Real California Milk, of course). Blotting the stain with a cloth moistened by milk works 99% of the time. [1]

Now that the party’s over, you’ve got creamy, soft skin and you’ve rescued your favorite shirt from red-wine ruin, kick up your shiny shoes and replay the night with a cold glass of milk and a warm cookie.  Because even for all its “secret” talents, our favorite way to enjoy California milk is still in a glass!
