California Dairy Industry Receives Environmental Leadership Award

California dairy producer and CEO and founder of BioEnergy Solutions Dave Albers is one of many California dairy producers at the forefront of utilizing “cow power” and, on October 1, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger announced that BioEnergy Solutions of Bakersfield, Calif. won the 2009 Governor’s Environmental and Economic Leadership Award (GEELA) for its Dairy Biomethane Cluster Projects.

As California's highest and most prestigious environmental honor, the GEELA award program recognizes individuals, organizations and businesses that have demonstrated exceptional leadership for voluntary achievements in conserving California’s resources, protecting and enhancing the environment, and building public-private partnerships.

BioEnergy Solutions’ first digester project came online in 2008 and is the first in California to upgrade biogas from dairy digesters to pipeline quality and inject it into an existing natural gas line.
